Tenure track professor position and postdoctoral position to work in the computational genomics laboratory (http://www.ccg.unam.mx/en/ComputationalGenomics) at the Center for Genomic Sciences (CCG) within the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM) in Cuernavaca, Morelos, Mexico. Our research focuses in regulation of gene expression in Escherichia coli and related bacteria.
Submit applications to applicationpgc@ccg.unam.mx with c.v., two letters of recommendation and additional names of reference people. Keep in mind that abilities to work in a team are essential, as well as participation in teaching. Knowledge of Spanish is preferred but not mandatory. Specific areas of interest include, but not limited to:
Natural language processing and text mining of gene regulation literature.
Predictive algorithms for regulatory elements within bacterial genomics.
Comparative genomics.
The range of our work covers curation of scientific literature on transcription initiation -feeding both RegulonDB and EcoCyc-, its computational representation (database, conceptual, graphic and navigation design), the investigation of natural language processing in curation; generation of predictive bioinformatic programs for all essential elements of the network (promoters, operons, regulators and their binding sites), and topological analyses of the network. We maintain several collaborations (EcoCyc, BIOPAX, RSATools, Textpresso) including experimental high throughput mapping of promoters, transcription units and in the future regulatory interactions.
The lab, the Center of Genomics (http://www.ccg.unam.mx/), and its associated Undergraduate Program in Genomics (http://www.lcg.unam.mx/) make all this an exciting and energetic place to seek excellence in research in a collaborative environment.
